To maintain safe social distance we are organizing a special virtual program. We will meet often in groups on Google Meet to check in throughout the summer with what you are doing, as well as to hear what you are reading. We look forward to facilitating interaction and conversation. We will try to pair you with friends in Meets as well as introduce you to new friends. So, share this page and the online application below with a friend!
We are asking you to perform "good deeds" at home for your family, online, and maybe in your neighborhood. We have lots of safe and worthwhile suggestions that will be shared with you in full after we receive your application. One option could be to record yourself telling us about and sharing a favorite book for a younger reader on our Reading Wizards Flipgrid. The Children's Place understands and appreciates just how much younger kids need, look up to, and admire our Volunteens. These young readers, registered for our summer reading program "Imagine Your Story" will be able to count the time spent watching these recordings toward their reading progress. They will be positively influenced by your commitment and enthusiasm for reading and probably be motivated to reread your favorite book themselves or ask someone at home to read it to them! We are planning to host a few Meets so that readers can meet you online as well.
Consider some topics you would like to discuss at scheduled Meets and maybe we can invite local experts to join and share with us. Please email us at email@example.com with any ideas. We certainly will be sharing library resources with you as our Volunteens continue to be a major asset as ambassadors for WCDPL!
Please talk it over with your parents and guardians. Consider filling out our online application at any point this summer, and we will be in touch!
